Following an incredible run of three titles in the Youth Championships, our players have now proven their mettle on the big stage. Our "lions" dominated the field, securing top honors in the adult categories.
Category C: Jan Frisch is Champion of Luxembourg (Category C)
The highlight of the tournament was the stellar performance of 14-year-old Jan Frisch. Competing in Category C (for players with an ELO under 1700), Jan has been searching for a breakthrough performance, and he found it at exactly the right moment.

Jan was in unstoppable form, winning his first six matches in a row. Entering the final round, he needed only a draw to secure the title—a task he handled with professional composure. Finishing with 6.5/7 points, Jan Frisch is officially the Luxembourg Category C Champion.
Right behind him, Nikolai Solovev, our U10 National Champion, showed remarkable maturity by taking 2nd Place with a strong score of 5.5/7.
The success didn’t stop at the podium. Our club was well-represented by a dedicated group of players who fought hard in every round:
-
Luisa Frisch: In a particularly heartwarming debut, 8-year-old Luisa held her own in her first major championship, securing an impressive 3 victories out of 7 games.
-
Gabriel Frisch: Finished with a solid 3.5/7.
-
Franciszek Dowgialo: Concluded the tournament with 3/7.
-
Marc Clement: Earned 2.5/7.
-
Eleonora Frisch: Finished with 2/7.
In Category B (for players between 1700 and 2000 ELO), Dario Macia Tell was our sole representative. Competing against a very experienced field, Dario delivered a balanced performance, ending the tournament with 3.5/7 points.
As the ABC Championships draw to a close, so does a long and demanding competitive season. This year has been a landmark for our club, filled with success at both individual and team levels.
We are incredibly proud of all our players. Their hard work, sportsmanship, and passion for the game continue to make us proud.
Congratulations to Jan, Nikolai, and the entire team!
