Our club participated with 17 players, making us the second largest delegation of the championship, right after the host club from Differdange.
And the results?
🏆 3 out of 6 national champions come from our club.
That means 50% of Luxembourg’s youth champions are our players.
🥇 Our National Champions
U10 – Nikolai Solovev
Nikolai claimed his third consecutive national title in the U10 category — an extraordinary achievement.
He has been consistently representing Luxembourg in recent years at both World and European Youth Championships, proving once again his stability and high competitive level.
U12 – Olaf Guzdziol
In arguably the strongest category in terms of opposition, Olaf delivered a perfect performance: 7/7 points and an impressive +98 FIDE rating points.
Last year he finished second in the same category. This year, he came determined — and unstoppable.
U14 – Nicola Luppi
Nicola scored 6.5/7, winning almost all his games with creative and mature play.
Last year he started with 3/3 but lost momentum after a defeat. This year, he came back stronger to claim what he narrowly missed.
His progress is remarkable — he started chess only two years ago and is rapidly closing the gap with players who have been training much longer.
🥈🥉 Podium Finishes & Outstanding Performances
U08 – Luisa Frisch
In her very first participation, Luisa finished 3rd overall and was the first girl of the category.
A champion in her own way.
U14 – Dario Macia Tell
Dario secured 2nd place with a crucial win in the final round.
Last year he lost the medal in the very last game — this year he took what he deserved.
If he learns to slow down and think longer, he could be unbeatable nationally — but his natural instinct is to play fast!
♟️ Strong Results Across All Categories
U08
-
Yiming Long (Gigi), our only representative from the beginners group, showed tremendous courage.
Although we usually do not encourage participation in national championships before mastering the rules, she insisted on playing.
Her improvement during the tournament was astonishing — the difference between her first and last game was enormous.
Impressively, each of her games lasted around 2–3 hours — rare fighting spirit for this age.
U10
-
Ovidiu Nicolas Sebe-Vodislav, Franciszek Dowgialo (Franiu) and Gabriel Frisch all scored 5/7, finishing between 4th–6th place, very close to the medals.
-
Ovidiu lost only to the top two players and narrowly missed 3rd place after a final-round draw.
-
Franiu can proudly say he defeated the reigning champion, who had been unbeaten in youth championships for the last two years.
-
Gabriel entered the tournament rhythm after round one and showed strong fighting spirit.
-
-
Eleonora Frisch scored 50% in her first participation.
-
Yumain Petikiri Arachchige gained valuable experience despite playing only two rounds.
U12
-
Max Bieber once again showed stability against very strong opponents.
-
Anay Nimma delivered a solid performance throughout the tournament.
-
Mateus Apostol, in his first participation, produced one of the surprises of the category by defeating one of the top players.
U14
-
Jan Frisch finished 5th with 5/7, extremely close to the medals — a single moment of inattention cost him more.
-
Marcus Apostol, in his first championship appearance, scored a very encouraging 4/7.
U20
-
Punyabhalan Senthilkumar (Punya) faced a very tough field from the start but fought with determination throughout the event.
Participation Comes First
As we always say: participation comes first — titles follow.
At the end of the season, all players who participated in official championships will be honoured for their effort and commitment.
We would like to thank:
-
All our players for their fighting spirit
-
All parents for their patience and support — both in victories and difficult moments
We do not relax.
We keep on working.
